I was attracted to this book because I also have a disorder that somewhat confines my life, although I am not in a wheelchair. I know the author and I wanted to know, "How does she do it?" She is a confident and very capable woman. I didn't want to read another book about how looking on the light side makes all your problems go away - I find that kind of thing distasteful. I knew Lynn wouldn't disappoint me, and she didn't. She shared honestly about the things she has been through. Rather than holding me at arm's length as a forever outsider, she invited me in to know her in her inmost thoughts and in her tears. Jesus has not healed her bones but He shows obviously in the strength and outlook that shine through her life.

Lynn Miller shares her deeply personal story with raw emotion, unfettered truth and honest humor. It is not necessary for the reader to have a physical disability to be profoundly touched by Lynn's story. While her journey cannot be extricated from her injuries, Lynn has shown that God cares about EVERY part of us and is interested in transforming our hearts through His love. She is truly an example of God's redemptive work and shows the reader what true restoration looks like. I highly recommend Lynn's book to anyone who wants to experience a loving Father, a redemptive Son and a life-transforming Holy Spirit.

I am in the middle of the book now, but I'm absolutely glued to it...Lynn's story is nothing short of amazing, heroic, and a blessing for us to be able to read. Within a few short pages I felt like Lynn and I were dear friends. She has a very easy-going way in the book of sharing who she is and her exuberant love of life. To me this was evident from page 1. She has a spunkiness to her. And to say her story is nothing short of a miracle is absolutely true...I go to the same church as Lynn, and I've known her for over 10 years. And I've never known this story. She's very humble and her heart is filled with joy. What she expresses in the book is truly what she personifies in life. Dry Bones Dance Again is beautifully written and will take you on a journey of how God loves us so deeply and brings healing in ways we could never imagine. I loved this book, and I couldn't put it down. The author's demonstration of how to live a life moving towards full reliance on the Lord convicted me and has drawn me more towards that path. I would highly recommend this book!

This book is a road map through pain, whether it be physical, emotional, spiritual, or, as in the author's case, all three at once. I read it because a friend of mine wrote it. Little did I know how little I knew about my friend's triumphant journey through lifelong pain and suffering. Lynn's story will inspire and comfort anyone who was born into struggle beyond what is usually expected in a lifetime, and will challenge the rest of us to stand resolutely against the voices that say "I can't" or "why me, God?" If you need courage, strength, hope, healing, renewed faith or all of the above, take a page from Lynn's book.

Lynn tells a gripping story of her true life events. She has a unique way of drawing into the moment and painting the picture as though everything is happening to you. You can feel her pain, anguish and frustration. You can also feel her happiness, love and spiritual release into God's welcoming arms. I HIGHLY recommend this book to absolutely anyone. I knew Lynn in high school. Her infectious smile and laugh were always present. I had no idea of depth of her struggles. She was just one of us. I was saddened to read about her suffering, but buoyed by her spirit and her love of our Lord. She is truly a bright light, and her book will lift your spirits.

As a parent of a child with a chronic illness it was refreshing to read a success story about how the author navigates life. As a nurse I highly recommend as a great read for health care professionals! Eye opening! As a Christian I appreciated the Bible passages woven in the story. Great read!

I liked Meet Cute, but I didn't love it. It expanded my definition of a meet cute, in that not all of these stories were actually cute. In some of the stories, there seemed to be a lot of unnecessary manufactured drama - as if one problem for the protagonist to solve wasn't enough. But instead of spending more time on the stories I didn't really care for, here are some of my favorite stories in the collection: Click, The Intern, The Way We Love Here, Oomph, Say Everything, and The Department of Dead Love. I wish they had all been like these stories - I was expecting a lot more feel-good moments than I feel like I actually got. This was cute, but I'm glad I didn't get it in hardback. A more detailed review of the individual stories is below:Siege Ettiquette - a solemn beginning. I guess I assumed all meet cutes were feel-good. This one had a lot of emotion, but the main female is a mean girl and there are several stereotypes thrown around. I guess that's not too far- fetched, since it is high school, but i found it hard to relate or root for the characters.Print Shop - a slightly more upbeat story. I liked all of the detail about the print shop, but i didn't feel like we got to know the main character (whose head we're in) very well. so caring about her feelings felt a bit odd. But again, i will say the writing was really good!Hourglass - also not a feel good story. There's some depth, but I guess I don't understand why there had to be drama between the two friends, why everything else in Cherish's life, all the upcoming change and questions couldnt be enough.Click - i LOVED this story! Set in the nearish future, two people meet for a blind date with a twist. It was lovely and sweet and fun to read!The Intern - This story? This story is so good! Sweet and stormy and fun and fierce. Full of loving and sadness and laughter and heart. This is what i wanted the entire collection to be!Somewhere That's Green - I'm afraid to say anything negative about this story, because i do like the diversity, and i think it will probably give a lot of people hope. But it all felt... forced? cliche? i hate that, word. I think if it had ended just after the hug, I'd be more on board with it.The Way We Love Here - This story is MAGIC. It's sweet and lovely and sad and extraordinary. I love the idea of soulmate tattoos, but also the idea of potentially thwarting them. This is the best of the bunch!OOmph - i adored this story. The uncertainty and authenticity. The nerdy jokes and nervousness. i want more stories like this!The Dictionary of You and Me - I liked this story and found it a quick and delightful read. I'm kept from loving it simply because the main character kept pointing out how what was happening would only ever happen in a movie. That broke my distended disbelief each time.The Unlikely Likelihood of Falling in Love - This was cute. i enjoyed the format and most of the story. I liked the characters, too. I think I just, didn't like the handful of references to meet cutes within this meet cute.259 Million Miles - i didn't like this story. it was strange being in a guy's head and Blythe felt VERY manic pixie dreamgirl.Something Real - i liked this story, but i think i would have liked it more if the guy wasn't a complete jerk. The two main females were wonderful and it was fantastic that they wouldn't fight over the guy!Say Everything - I LOVE this one! sweet and a little melancholy and the awkwardness abounds. But so do the truths and the good advice. YOLO and all that, you know?The Department of Dead Love - What a wonderful story to end on! I love the idea of an organization devoted to understanding and researching love. A great note to end on!

I think with this type of short story collection, where each one is by a different author, it's not unexpected that I would enjoy each one a different amount. There were some I really enjoyed and some that were just okay. I didn't dislike any of them though and overall it was an enjoyable read. I had thought these were all contemporary in nature but I was pleasantly surprised to find that some were science fiction.I also loved that there weren't just boy meets girl stories (there were girl meets girl, transgender girl meets girl, etc.). Plus, they weren't all white people.This is probably nitpicky but there was some geography issues in the first story: "Siege Etiquette" and it bothered me, mostly because it involved the area I'm from (Syracuse, NY is in Onondaga County).

This is a super fun anthology that totally lives up to the cuteness promised in the title!My top three stories that I absolutely cannot get out of my head no matter how hard I try:1. THE WAY WE LOVE HERE by Dhonielle Clayton - Gorgeously written, evocative, and felt like an entire love story in twenty-five pages?! I know, but how? This was my first taste of Clayton's writing, and it made me even more excited to run and preorder THE BELLES.2. OOMPH by Emery Lord - So. Freaking. Cute. Two girls meet at an airport and I am trash for this trope OKAY.3. CLICK by Katherine McGee - A near future that explores dating apps vs. IRL connections....Really I meant to do a top three but I could keep going on and on. PAINT SHOP by Nina LaCourhas such a unique setting and hopeful ending and is delightfully f/f. THE UNLIKELY LIKELIHOOD OF FALLING IN LOVE made me swoon (the blue sweatshirt!). And THE DEPARTMENT OF DEAD LOVE was just such a unique premise my goodness!This is the first anthology series I've read; and I'm certainly on the bandwagon now!

Armentrout was a writer on this book and she is one of my favorite authors, so I decided, why not?I did enjoy some of the stories in this book, though it took me a while to finish reading, and that is usually not a good sign. The writing was great. Each writer shines individually and seeing their different styles is intriguing. This book ranges from the young adult to new adult genre. I liked a lot of little things about Meet Cute. I love that there is a story for everyone. Every race, gender, and sexual orientation has a story in this book and it is part of what makes it fantastic. I loved the different genres depicted as well. Whether it be young adult, new adult, dystopian, or fantasy, this book has it all. The variety is amazing and I believe that everyone will find a story in it that’s just for them.Even though I enjoyed those aspects, I couldn’t bring myself to wanting to read this book. I found that I needed a break from reading it just to read something else. it’s not that it was bad, I just couldn’t get into some of the stories. And the stories that I really did like, I wanted more of. Once the two main characters meet each other and interact for a page or two, that’s it. The story is over. And I hate the feeling of wanting more from a book. This doesn’t make the book bad at all. But it makes the reader wish that there was just….more.Would I recommend this book? Sure, why not. Like I said, there’s a story for everyone. Meet cute was not a bad book at all, I was just left with the feeling of reading something unfinished.

I must confess this book fell short of my expectations. Reference materials have come a long way from the encyclopedias of my childhood. Series like the " for Dummies" do an incredible job of organizing information that's readily absorbable in quick snippets, and the "DK" branded books for both kids and adults are phenomenal--visually interesting and helping you absorb vast quantities of information in a small time, with compelling infographics and stunning visuals. Not so this book. It reads almost like a novel, so you have to almost read through page after page of straight text with hardly a break in sight.For context, I earned my MBA many years ago, and now do business analysis for the software development arm of a Wall Street firm (yes, a bulge-bracket firm), specifically in sell-side Research. So I'm familiar with most of the concepts, but was hoping for something I could quickly flip through for an updated 30-second reminder of "why do people like ETFs? Oh yeah, that." Or a quick drill-down reminder into one of the topics that I haven't looked at for many years, but now require for a project. That's not what this book does: you'll have to read it cover-to-cover to get anything out of it, and frankly, I (personally) don't have time for that.Sooo as of this exact second I decided to see if DK has written anything on finance, and they have. I'd 100% start with the DK book instead - https://www.amazon.com/How-Money-Works-Visually-Explained/dp/1465444270/ - and then mayyybe loop back to this current one if you need the full text. But if you're really looking for a "crash course" on finance? My money is on DK. I got this book primarily to use as a guidebook to do some financial literacy teaching. I pretty much know the material as I have an MBA and corporate experience in finance. But, I enjoyed reading the author's material because he does a good job of making the concepts simpler and straightforward. I do think he struggled a little in deciding what details to put in the text of the book versus what should better go in an appendix. In any case, I think the overall book is very worthwhile and I do plan to use it as a guide for discussing some topics from the book. It's a book worth having for almost anyone.

The author does an admirable job of making the material less dry than corporate finance textbooks typically do, but this is far better as a review tool than an introduction. If you've never taken accounting or had exposure to corporate finance before I would recommend starting with a less technical book. If you are looking for a refresher or an update of stuff you learned years before, the Wall Street MBA is an excellent option. The description calls it a "highly accessible ground-floor view of corporate accounting offers everything you need to navigate today’s financial landscape with the knowledge and confidence of a seasoned pro", but I think that the book assumes too much basic knowledge to be touted as "ground floor". A big plus is its price. At less that $20 it is a bargain relative to textbooks.

Even though I thought I have a good familiarity with Wall Street financial terms and activities, this book is such a good guide and refresher on many topics an educated reader seeking to be better informed.This book is terrific and has been updated from the older first version I have sitting in my bookshelf. It os organized by topic and is helpful to pick through and learn and engage when hearing financial news and asking yourself "what was that again?"The value of this book would be great as a gift for a new college graduate (not a finance or economics graduate I would hope), to introduce so much of what is going on in the sophisticated American finance system.Well worth it!Highly recommended.

This is a review of The Wall Street MBA, Third Edition: Your Personal Crash Course in Corporate Finance.What a great book. Any writer that can put out a book on corporate finance that is actually somewhat entertaining to read, even injecting some humor, gets high marks from me. This is accessible to just about anyone with a little bit of prior economics knowledge behind them but it might still be a bit much for a complete neophyte. Nevertheless, it is something that could be very helpful even as a look-it-up-when-you-need-to resource.I thought it was great.

If you hear jargon from investment 'experts,' financial advisors, etc., you now have a handy encyclopedia and reference book. It is truly a crash course on various financial terms, which will come in handy for academic or personal use to evaluate investment decisions. You can also call it the Cliff Notes of Wall Street and finance.Bravo

this is a good book. The author is very easy going in tone, and tries to be very friendly - this may feel a bit strange in some sentences, but once you get the style its ok. He takes us through Accounting and Finance, with some good examples and crash courses. Would this book be enough for you to make you a MBA expert - no, but for the price it's a worthy quick read to get grasp around some basics.

This is a great book if you are looking for a thorough, yet easy-to-read primer on corporate finance. Goes into plenty of detail without being overwhelming. Perfect for people just diving in, middle managers, or students who want to ge a head start in their business knowledge. Highly recommended.

Would Theodore Kinni be able to capture the essence of the practical magic of WDW? He does! Cast members often speak of "pixie dust" falling upon them--either you have it or you don't. Those who do are happily driven by the principles referred to in this book. I spent countless hours in heat, humidity, and occasional raging thunder storms to help bring happiness to our guests. It was great fun to sneak up behind a harried father who was attempting to get his weary children to smile for the camera. A few quick mugs from me almost always brought the grins Dad was looking for. Offering helpful directions. Keeping a straight face when asked "interesing" guestions: "Is that real water?" "No, Ma'am, that's Disney water!"A highlight of my life was walking through the Imagineering building in Burbank and witnessing first-hand the creative genius of the Disney organization. I learned to appreciate my own creativity --not to be afraid to dream and then to do!So what of the Disney philosophy can be applied to other businesses? Easy. Disney create a magical experience whilst you are in the resorts and theme parks. But of course it doesn't happen by magic. They don't have a secret pixie dust mine run by dwarves. They use the combination of cast, setting and process to superb effect.They do have an excellent cast- who are very well trained and drilled- and who have very clear priorities set for their work. This clarity allows them to do their work well- and creates a safe framework within which they can improvise freely and safely- creating magical moments and memories for guests. Disney Cast are simultaneously very disciplined, and yet very free and trusted. This is a good combination to achieve in any industry yet rarely done as well as by Disney and its cast. In particular the need for control and direction felt in many organisations actually leads them down the path to failure. The chains of unjustified assurance (See for example The Audit Society: Rituals of Verification demanded in many companies and government departments are actually reducing their degrees of control, and their degrees of effectiveness. The staff end up unable to give their best and the managers fruitlessly keep wondering how to bring out the best in their staff...without giving up control.Disney uses a simple approach based on overarching priorities and then local adaptations for particular settings. Their overarching priorities are very clear- safety, courtesy, show, efficiency, and in that order.Safety is not easy to assure at Disney- huge numbers of guests, and so eventually an incident will occur, even if the risk is one in a million or less- they have that many visitors so that a one in a million event will happen somewhere. Staff are trained to mitigate this risk.Courtesy is their next step. Everyone is a very individual person- and Disney try to match their staff with the people they are serving. They also study culture across the world- and make their gestures clear but neutral and inoffensive. For example a pointing finger may be polite or impolite depending on context- Disney have worked out a strategy to avoid any appearance of impoliteness.Show is harder to define- but it basically means that the guest is always focused on enjoying the park, and not on observing its workings. The amount of design work done to ensure seamless transitions between the areas of the parks is huge. Also the work that has gone into avoiding incongruous back scenes, and abrupt transitions is noteworthy. The audience's attention is never distracted unnecessarily.Efficiency is process management by Disney team mange the flow of people through their locations. The detail with which Disney tracks this is awesome- they know how many people to expect in each bit of their park, and what they will want and need- and plan ahead to meet it. The cast then make it look easy, but there's a detailed process behind it.This book describes well how Disney achieves its quality of service and if you want a bit of that magic to rub off onto you read this book, and learn. It actually makes me appreciate what Disney do more, and also realise that what they do could be replicated and adapted to many other contexts.It's all just hidden within cast, setting and process.

Easy book to read. I liked it. I learned a few things. Me, as bible study leader, I welcome ways to create environments that will open up people's hearts and to see with fresh eyes! I agree Disney is de facto for customer service. They do pay attention to detail! True you will never see peeling paint at Disney. I used to work in television, manufacturing, help desk for federal government, help desk for state government and healthcare. Some of these organizations are no longer around, but if they had applied some of these Disney basics, they could have thrived and still been around. This is a good read along with books on Six Sigma and Lean.

I could not stop reading this book. If every CEO, manager, owner and employee of every company read it and lived by Disney's rules, they would have happier employees and more customers. Well written, concise and excellent advise for everyone who is in any kind of business.

He's ridden a wild moose!---and claims they give a smoother ride than a horse. Not once, but twice he has nursed from one's udder!--- the first time through curiosity, the second because of hunger. He eats Eskimo delicacies such as oshok (walrus flipper buried in the frozen ground for a year to ferment.) He's worked on a moose research project, and climbed part way up Mount McKinley with his dog team. He's taken week's-long, unsupported trips by dog team through trackless, subarctic wilderness where no one monitored his progress, whereabouts or well-being. He competed in the wild-and-crazy, loosely-organized, first Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Obviously, he doesn't fit the stereotype of your typical writer. Not only a history of Alaska , but also many stories from his family's friends that were the foundation toopening that great state to the world.Need to reed both books to receive the full story of the Iditarod.

A read for all. Very detailed history disclosing a well-written account of what happened. Incredible. Recommend highly. Thank you.

The book was in excellent condition for the price I paid. Plus, to my surprise it was signed by the author. I know it is the author's signature because I have the same signature in his Volumn 2 which I received in person in Alaska.map

If you find yourself walking down 4th Avenue in downtown Anchorage, stop by and visit with Rob Perry, the author of this book. I say visit, rather than just look or buy a book, because Rod is a raconteur of the first degree. He is out there with his dog all day long (and the days can be long there) and loves to converse. About anything. Absolutely anything. Rob is well read, well spoken and tells the truth about all things Alaska. I fancy myself a writer and visited Rod several times to expand my mind on a variety of subjects. Be it the young couple visiting from Israel or the kid carrying a skateboard, Rod could engage them in an intelligent and knowing conversation that catches most by surprise and delight.After finishing both of Rod's volumes, I feel I not only know Alaska on a first name basis, but feel the hopelessness, enthusiasm and longing of the spirit that formed Alaska. I got goose bumps typing the previous sentence, because it is now part of me.I will return to Anchorage in mid-May (by Rod's advise) to introduce my wife to my (and everyone's) friend, Rod.

Walk down Main Street in Anchorage, Alaska and you can buy a copy of this book and it's sequel straight from Rod Perry. He'll sign them for you and tell you even more Alaska stories. Every person interested in Alaska should own copies of these books by Rod Perry. I remember as a kid reading the book about Libby Riddle, the first woman to win the Iditarod, and Rod Perry was one of the people who showed up a number of times in her book. Alaska is a place where people can still dream. This book shows you why.

I'm a big fan of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race and even give presentations about it at our local elementary school, so I was really excited when I heard about this book and couldn't wait to read it. I'm almost 1/2 way through it (page 190 of 334 pages) and I'm FINALLY getting to something about the town of Iditarod. If I wouldn't have paid good money for this, I WOULD NOT still be reading it! In fact, several times within the first 25 pages, I put it down and seriously considered not bothering with the rest of the book.IF you're a fan of who did what, when and where, then this book will probably please you. IF you know A LOT about the geography of the Yukon Territory in Canada (without looking at maps) then you will probably enjoy this book. If not, then don't bother buying it.The author goes into great detail about who did what and when concerning looking for gold in the Yukon Territory. Unfortunately, he mentions so many people and so many locations, without having enough maps, that it is difficult to comprehend it all or to keep everything straight.He switches between several speakers with each giving his/her own rendition of the SAME incident, which is boring. Even more annoying is his inclusion of French phrases, without giving the reader any clue as to their meaning in English.Before you go out and buy this book, check with your library to see if you can borrow it. That way you won't waste your money purchasing a copy. Since it's a paperback, it wouldn't even make a good door stop.

The author takes you on a journey through history in this book, you feel like your there riding in the sled.
